I will be joining the Hoboken Charter School staff as a Special Education teacher for grades Kindergarten through 4th. Prior to joining HCS, I worked as a preschool teacher at a private dual language school in lower Manhattan. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Masters in Special Education from New York University.
My goal is to engage students through meaningful and enriching experiences, and to foster motivation in students by providing content that is applicable to their lives. I believe that my role as a teacher is to guide my students to become active participants in their learning, which aids in student mastery of concepts. At the same time, I think it is vital for educators to understand the individual needs of each learner. Every student is unique and learns in different ways. Therefore, I believe it is my job to support all students in ways that fit their personal needs.
Equally important is my role as a nurturer. Having high expectations for all students and believing that everyone is capable of achieving their personal best is a crucial part of a educator's role. As a teacher I would like to take this a step further, and help to awaken this belief within each individual. Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right.”
